Hi,

I have a 4500. Its not always automatically connecting, its OK if I manual force connect. I get an error, something like; 800000001.

One time while manual connecting, while down loading data, I saw the replay began to record a show. I thought this was not an option. It errorred out eventually. Maybe this is what its doing the other times...

I was having multitude of errors...

-- Many shows scheduled to record, nearly continuously.
-- Funky internet provider (WildBlue), and my internet is running slower these days (~5Mbps).
-- Bad LAN cable (tested good with high-end tester). This caused a slow link and errors. The only symptom was when pinging the replay (ping -t 192.168.x.xxx). The error was, "Request timed out." occasionally.
Once agian, Robert from PERC was able to help me get it all running.

It be nice is there was a way to save ones record channels (planed recordings), and to back up the saved shows, easily...

There is, have you heard of DVArchive and/or WiRNS?

I know you have a complicated satellite ISP, but I don't think that would prevent you from linking your Replay to your computer and then use either of those two programs to download shows from your Replay to your computer.

I'm a recent convert myself but once I got it going, I bought a 2TB drive and installed it in my computer as a 2nd drive and then I started downloading stuff from my Replays.

Can I back up my search record list. The problem, is I don't spell very well and Replay doesn't spell check. If I could back up my searches, this would be cool. Sometime I put in an actress who I like, and their names require research, as often not well known...

Example:
Emily Bergl
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004749/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Star_%28Star_Trek:_Enterprise%29

Or
Lindy Booth
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0095751/?ref_=tt_cl_t13

Either I'm not understanding your question, or you don't know about Theme Channel recordings.

There are two types of recording channels in Replay, the first more obvious one is show based recordings (eg, record Scandal every week on channel 7 at 8pm) and the other one is theme based recordings where you record any shows that feature a certain actor, or director, etc, or that have certain words in the title, etc. When you use the Find Shows feature, when the results are displayed there is a box on the left entitled "Create the "xxx" Theme Channel" (where "xxx" is your search string). You could use this to save your searches for your favorite actresses, once you have confirmed how to spell their names on IMDB of course. It's also a useful way to record shows that air at many different times, like if you want to get all the re-runs, etc of "Lay & Order" or something like that.

In that case, the answer is no, there is no other way to back or archive your shows.
