So I stumbled on this great cable via this forum that is a direct connection from RTV to cable DTA box.

Can a splitter be used to control two different devices?
Would it be just a regular headphone splitter?

Can I 'split' this cable http://www.ebay.com/itm/191554446582

I love the ReplayTV.
My setup in the analog day had Coax, SatTV and a cable box for inputs. Allowed awesome versatility.
The RTV was so damn smart it put coax first in channel lineup, SatTV in the 1000's and the cable box input in the 2000's
Freakin thing was just so well thought out.
I IR Blastered both devices and it knew to send right code based on device/channel position
(OR it just sent code and other device ignored)
(OR bigger OR I am remembering wrong and elevating the RTV cause I know I used the serial connection for SatTV - still a cool feature built into RTV)

Anyway
I am wondering if I can use TWO direct IR Blaster cables. A splitter right at RTV and use two cables
OR
A splitter after one cable and then just a extender cable on the other port to 2nd device.

I think where the IR direct cable was originally mentioned

Seems my situation I need to be able to split at the ReplayTV IR Blaster port.
So I can send the direct connect IR cable to the CableCo DTA box and then use a traditional IR blaster optical cable to control the DirecTV box (since the model I have has no IR in port)

Perhaps the other end could be split as it looks like a male headphone jack but then I need an adapter of sorts to get to USB to control the DTV reciever - and that is IF the USB port is even used like that

So the question still remains - can that Direct IR Blaster control cable use a splitter at either end?

Yeah, almost but not quite.
That cable is what I needed to be able to use but on the one side of the split

So,
Out of RTV I'm needing to direct IR blast input 1 device and optically IR Blast input 2 device

If you can find the right kind of splitter, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.
